1. requisite: necessary or needed for a particular purpose 필요한, 필수조건

2. avail: use, purpose, advantage, or profit 도움이 되다.

Unless you have this one fundamental requisite, a thousand rules on how to study will avail little.

3. vigorous: very forceful or energetic 활발한

4. urge: a strong wish, especially one that is difficult or impossible to control 충고하다, 설득하다, 욕구,충동

How can you develop such an urge?

5. mastery: complete control of something 수달, 지배

Picture to yourself how their mastery will aid you in leading a richer, fuller, happier, and more fulfilling life.

6. bird's eye view: the ability to look at something from a very high place so that you see a large area below you  조감도

Read each chapter rapidly at first to get a bird's eye view of it.

7. underscore: to underline 밑줄표시

8. provisions: the act of providing something 공급, 제공, 준비

9. suffice: to be enough 충분하다

So, if you want to get a real, lasting benefit out of this book, don't imagine that skimming through it once will suffice.

10. in the offing: likely to happen soon 머지않아

Keep constantly impressing yourself with the rich possibilities for improvement that still lie in the offing.

11. advocate: to publicly support or suggest an idea, development, or way of doing something 지지하다

I know because I wrote the book and yet frequently I found it difficult to apply everything I advocated.

12. confront: to face, meet, or deal with a difficult situation or person 맞서다

13. impulsive: showing behavior in which you do things suddenly without any planning and without considering the effects they may have 충동적으로

Regard this as a working handbook on human relations: and whenever you are confronted with some specific problem-such as handling a child, winning your spouse to your way of thinking, or satisfying an irritated customer-hesitate about doing the natural thing, the impulsive thing.

14. schooling: education in school 학교 교육

This man had little formal schooling; yet he had become one of the most important financiers in America.

15. appraisal: the act of examining someone or something in order to judge their qualities, success, or needs 평가, 판단

Saturday evening to the illuminating process of self-examination and review and appraisal.

16. go off: to leave a place or go somewhere else 자리를 뜨다

After dinner, I went off by myself, opened my engagement book, and thought over all the interviews, discussions, and meetings that had taken place during the week.

17. blunder: a serious mistake, usually caused by not taking care or thinking 실수

I was frequently astonished at my own blunders.

18. incline: to (make someone) feel something or want to do something -쪽으로 기울다

Sometimes I was inclined to pat myself on the back a little after one of these sessions.
